Back to school
Sadly, spring break is over. But, it was a great break, and this is the last full week in March, so I'm not complaining. After all, there are only 47 days of school until freedom. 19 until the next break. I successfully made my first ham yesterday. It tasted delicious, fed ten people, and left us with 2 and a half gallon size bags of left overs. All for only $20. I'll have to buy a ham more often. I did decide that I would make one for next Thanksgiving. I think I bought every Easter thing that Williams-Sonoma had, and every thing looked so cute. Don't worry, it was all ridiculously on sale! I'll post pictures later. I made my barefoot Contessa coconut cake with lemon curd filling and my stand up rabbit cake. Normally the day before we have to go back to school from a break I get all depressed, especially since Scott had to work, but yesterday was a great day. I got up early, went to church with Mom & Dad, then they came back to my house and we made a frittata for a brunch, and had hot cross buns and some veggies from a veggie tray. Then we went and put some flowers on Uncle Bill's grave and then went back to Mom & Dad's to get my ham. Mom came over and helped me get it ready. We had some wine and listened to Michael Buble while we prepared it. She cut the fat off and I cut all the criss cross patterns in it and put the cloves in it. Then I set up my 2 tables. Our dining room table only seats 4 and we had 10 people coming, so I had to get out my banquet table. That was a very good investment, and it folds in half. I went to Target on Saturday and bought 6 fold up chairs to go with it. Next Thanksgiving I'm going to buy those folding chair covers. They always put them on sale right before Thanksgiving. Anyways, it was a lot of work decorating 2 tables, but I took lots of pictures. I even got these cool flower table confetti's at Pier 1 that matched the colors perfectly. The only problem was keeping the cats from jumping up on the table and playing with everything. I'm very pleased with the way everything turned out. Small plates and all. We eat too big of portions anyways! After everyone left we cut all the ham off the bone, took a bath and went to bed. I'd say that was an excellent Easter. I'm hoping today will be a great day. Happy Monday.
