Friday!!

A weird thing happened yesterday. The more I was around my kids, the better I felt. It's just very strange to me because I never planned on teaching very long, but my little kids here are so sweet, that it really makes me wonder if I might do this for a while. Or at least until I have my second kid! After my suggestion our group decided to forgo the gifts and use our money to buy toys for toys for tots. One of my fourth graders said "shit" in class yesterday. What's great about teaching little kids is that they love to tattle on each other. So of course one of the boys from his table comes and tells on him and then I asked the other kid at the table if he heard him say it to. He said yes, so I call the kid up there and asked him if he said it. He said no, then I did a lot of threatening and he confessed. I'm so good! but, while I was lecturing him about how we don't talk that way and all kinds of other stuff I was feeling a little guilty. for those of you that know me well, you know that I have developed quite the potty mouth, so it was like the pot calling the kettle black. I couldn't not gripe him out though. So now I have decided that my potty mouth has got to stop. Plus, Mom told me if I did it around my kids she would spank me in front of them. Last night we bought some awesome toys to donate. I have to drive them to church after school. As of yesterday they still needed 1,200 toys.
I fell in the shower this morning. A couple of years ago I fell out of the shower at Mom and Dad's and the curtain rod hit me in the forehead and I slammed into the wall because their bathroom is so small. This morning I fell back into the shower. It was all Nelly's fault. She has decided that my chap stick is her new toy. The other day she carried one of them off and put it in a shoe in the closet and it took me days to find it. I bought a new Burt's Bees last night and I heard her knock it over on the sink. I had just put shampoo in my hair and I peaked out and she was on the floor with it in her mouth getting ready to run into the closet. I knew I had to save it. We have a deep bath tub with jets in it, so it is kind of a big step. I stepped one leg out and grabbed it from her, and on my way back in I fell. I scratched up the under side of the leg that was out of the shower, bent 2 of my toes backwards and landed on my shoulder. I thought I dislocated it, but it just hurts really bad. The bad thing is that Scott slept on the couch so he could watch TV, so even if I yelled for him to help me he wouldn't have heard it. So I had to lay there for a second and feel sorry for myself and then get up and go on. So right now I hurt all over. What a way to start Friday.

Beth, that's a pretty hilarious mental picture.

Good luck working on your vocabulary.
